Finance Director Quits Suddenly

From Staff Reports

The city’s longtime finance director, Larry Chapin, has abruptly quit his post. He sent a resignation letter to Mayor David Sawyer saying his last day was Tuesday.

Chapin gave no explanation for his departure in the one sentence letter. He was hired by the city in 1988 and earned $50,000 annually.

City Clerk Helen Newton was appointed by the City Council Wednesday to act as interim treasurer. City officials declined to comment on Chapin’s departure. , DataTimes
