Canada is well worth a visit this year.

Not only are there a number of exciting events, but right now the Canadian dollar is at its lowest, which makes this friendly land so easy to reach a vacation bargain.

This is the 125th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, with main events taking place in the Mounties’ hometown of Regina, Saskatchewan.

The Yukon, along with Alaska, is marking the centennial of the Klondike Gold Rush of 1898.

New Brunswick’s capital city of Fredericton (one of the nicest capitals you’ll ever visit) is celebrating it’s 150th anniversary with 150 days of events.

And Newfoundland is marking the International Year of the Oceans.

Nova Scotia, meanwhile, has three events of interest.

The 600th anniversary of the landing of a European vessel on its shores will be celebrated as will the 225th anniversary of the landing of the Hector, the Nova Scotia equivalent of the Mayflower; and the opening of Cape Chignecto, the province’s newest and largest provincial park, which is expected to be one of the top five hiking areas in Canada.
