Chris Bond hit two free throws with 1:45 left to break a 41-all tie and the 3A ninth-ranked Cheney Blackhawks (13-3 overall, 10-2 BL) held off Lake City 49-42 at Coeur d’Alene in a Border League game Tuesday.

LC (9-7, 6-6) missed an open, 10-foot shot and was whistled for an over-the-back foul to give Bond his two attempts from the line. The Timberwolves also missed three open shots from the floor in the next minute and were forced to foul. Cheney responded by hitting 4 of 4 free throws.

Cheickna Camara and Brooke Randall combined for 18 rebounds to help Pullman’s 43-23 edge.
