Women Enters Plea In Child Sex Ring Case

From Staff And Wire Reports

Linda Miller pleaded guilty Wednesday to reduced charges, ending one of the most controversial of the child sex ring cases.

Miller, a 38-year-old mother of four, had been arrested on 3,200 counts of child rape.

She recanted her confession the next day but was convicted at trial of eight counts of molestation and sentenced to 33 years in prison.

An appeals court last year overturned her conviction, saying too much hearsay was allowed in her trial, and she wasn’t allowed to present an expert witness to explain why she might confess to something she didn’t do.

But appellate judges also noted that evidence indicated sexual abuse.

Her retrial ended when Miller pleaded guilty to three counts of communicating with a minor for immoral purposes.
