Lynden Christian Girls, Chelan Boys Win Crowns

Tessa DeBoer scored four points in the final 15 seconds and Lynden Christian (24-4) edged King’s (23-4) 45-42 Saturday in the State 1A girls championship basketball game at the Tacoma Dome Saturday.

First, DeBoer scored on a putback to give Lynden Christian a 43-42 lead.

After the Knights’ Heather Reichmann missed a shot from the top of the key with 4 seconds left, DeBoer was fouled and sank both free throws.

Sarah Miller had 18 points and seven steals to help the Indians (23-4) notch a victory over Ocosta for third place.

Jennifer Paluck scored 27 points to lead the Mountain Lions (25-2) to a win over the Cougars (15-12) for fourth place.

Okanogan 33, Tonasket 32

Naomi Peasley’s 3-point basket with one second left gave the Bulldogs a victory and fifth place.

Widman on all-tourney team

Colfax’s Laura Widman was named to the all-tournament second team.

Boys

Chelan 43, Seattle Christian 27

With 19 points, Phil Cullen, the tournament MVP, led Chelan to a 43-27 victory over Seattle Christian Saturday night in the state Class 1A boys championship basketball game at the Tacoma Dome.
