Post Falls Convenes On School Bond

School district officials admit most Post Falls voters have made up their minds about the school bond, but that didn’t stop them from having one last information session Thursday night.

Most of the chairs were empty in the cafeteria at Seltice Elementary as a handful of parents and residents asked about a proposed $21 million bond to build a new high school in the overcrowded Post Falls district.

The bond is divided into two parts, with $17.97 million allocated for construction of the new high school, and $2.89 million earmarked for a new auditorium, bleachers, all-weather track, lights, concession stand and repairs to the heating system at the existing high school. The second part of the bond cannot pass independently of the first.

Post Falls residents Eric and Lyn Harris, who don’t have any children in the district, said all their questions have been answered. But they still haven’t decided how they’ll vote.

“I know something has to be done, but is this it?” Eric Harris asked.

Tuesday’s election will be the fifth time the district has asked voters to support a new high school.

The bond needs a supermajority of 66 to pass.
