Drummers, dancers and food will be among the highlights of a Coeur d’Alene Indian powwow today.

The event marks the fifth anniversary of the tribe’s Bingo Casino. Festivities, which are free and include a meal, will take place in a tent at the casino. It is located north of Worley on U.S. Highway 95.

The featured drumming group will be Stoney Park, from Canada.

“They’re well-known in Indian country,” said Laura Stensgar, casino marketing director.

There also will be drummers from the Colville, Spokane, Kalispel, Salish-Kootenai and Nez Perce tribes.

“We expect a lot of dancers from different tribes,” Stensgar said.

The powwow will be from 1 to 11 p.m., with a break for dinner from 5 to 7 p.m.

Inside the casino, the Saturday Big Bingo game will feature special prizes, Stensgar said, including a trip around the world and a $10,000 giveaway. On Sunday, there will be a double payout for bingo.
