Mead Captures Shootout; CV Takes Care Of University

Tyler Denton set up Mead’s regulation goal, then scored the winner in a shootout as the Panthers edged host Lewis and Clark 2-1 in a non-league match Wednesday at Hart Field.

Denton assisted on K.C. Doggett’s goal at 50 minutes. The Tigers tied the match 15 minutes later with Brad Mahar’s penalty kick.

Mead won the shootout 4-3.

In other non-league matches involving GSL teams it was: Central Valley 2, University 0; Gonzaga Prep 6, Mt. Spokane 0; Ferris 4, Shadle Park 1; and North Central 7, Rogers 2.

Andy Sather scored after a heel flick from Ben Zimmerman early in the second half as CV (3-3) edged visiting U-Hi in a night match.

Spencer Leonard scored three times, each from at least 20 yards out, and Nick Ascolese added two goals in Prep’s win at Mt. Spokane.

Billy Sleeth set up two goals, and Jake Gillen added a goal and an assist in Ferris’ win at Shadle (4-1).

Sophomore Dustin Allbery totaled two goals and two assists to guide NC over visiting Rogers.
