Detectives think they know the identities of teenagers responsible for making a bomb threat at a Spokane Valley high school last week.

The teen suspects were interviewed by police. But police subsequently have been unable to locate the teens, and believe they might have left the Spokane area, said Spokane Valley Police Department spokesman Cpl. Dave Reagan.

Two notes about bombs having been planted were found in bathrooms at Central Valley High School on May 19. One of the notes said a bomb was scheduled to go off the following day. The school was evacuated for an hour Wednesday to check for bombs. The following day, students had backpacks and bags searched before they were allowed to enter the building.

No bomb was found.

The bomb threat appears to have been a prank that got out of hand, Reagan said. Placing a threat to a public building is a felony under Washington law.

Reagan said detectives do not believe the threats presented any danger to students.

Detectives have made no arrests, but the investigation continues, Reagan said.
