Heiber captures women’s golf title

Dru Heiber of Spokane Country Club won the city golf championship Thursday with a three-round total of 237.

Heiber shots rounds of 80, 78 and 79 during the tournament played this week at Esmeralda, Sun Dance and Wandermere.

Connie Hatfield of Liberty Lake was the low net of the field at 217.

Volleyball

Idaho (6-1, 1-0) opened Big West Conference action with a win over Pacific (3-3, 0-1) at Memorial Gym in Moscow. UI won 30-26, 30-24, 23-30, and 30-26.

•CC Spokane split a pair of matches on the first day of the three-day Western Arizona Tournament in Yuma. CCS defeated Yavapai, and fell to Long Beach CC. Jen Woelk closed out the victory over Yavapai with four consecutive points.

Cross country

Eastern Washington University sophomore Camille Gibb was selected as the Big Sky Runner of the Week after winning the Division I portion of the Emerald City Classic in Seattle last weekend.
