Phillies 4, Marlins 2: At Miami, Cory Lidle took a no-hitter into the seventh inning, Ryan Madson escaped a jam, and Philadelphia ended two years of frustration in Florida by beating the Marlins.

Cubs 5, Pirates 4 (10): At Pittsburgh, Pirates reliever Salomon Torres’ wild pitch scored the go-ahead run in the 10th, and Aramis Ramirez’s two-run homer helped Chicago beat Pittsburgh.

Expos 6, Mets 1: At Montreal, Tony Batista homered twice to reach 30 this season, Livan Hernandez pitched his ninth complete game and Montreal beat New York.

Braves 5, Reds 4: At Atlanta, John Thomson pitched seven strong innings, Julio Franco had three hits and Atlanta reduced its magic number for winning the N.L. East to three with a win over Cincinnati. John Smoltz finished for his 40th save, the 150th of his career.

Brewers 6, Cardinals 4: At Milwaukee, Victor Santos won for the second time in 12 starts since July 16 and rookie Dave Krynzel scored three runs to help Milwaukee stop a seven-game losing streak by defeating St. Louis.

Padres 9, Dodgers 4: At San Diego, Ramon Vazquez and Ramon Hernandez each hit a three-run homer for San Diego, and Adam Eaton beat Los Angeles for the fourth time this season. The Dodgers’ Adrian Beltre hit a pair of two-run homers and leads the majors with 47.

Giants 9, Astros 2: At San Francisco, Pedro Feliz matched his career high with four RBIs, and Brett Tomko won his sixth consecutive decision in San Francisco’s victory over Houston. Deivi Cruz had three hits, drove in two runs and scored twice for San Francisco, and Dustan Mohr singled three times and scored twice.

Diamondbacks at Rockies, ppd: At Denver, the Arizona-Colorado game was postponed because of rain and will be made up as part of a doubleheader today.
