‘Deceased fetus’ found at rest stop

From staff reports

Officials are looking for information regarding a “deceased fetus” found Tuesday afternoon at an Interstate 90 rest stop near Sprague, Wash., the Washington State Patrol reported.

Investigators were trying to determine if the fetus was delivered or aborted, a WSP dispatcher said. The body was found about 4:15 p.m. in a stall in the women’s bathroom, according to the report.

WSP said the fetus appeared to be in the third trimester and weighed between 3 and 5 pounds.

Investigators are looking for a tall and slender white female in her early 20s who was at the westbound rest area sometime between 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. She was wrapped in a large beach towel with “Hawaii” written on it.

The WSP asks that anyone with information call Lincoln County Under Sheriff Wade Magers at (509) 725-3501.
