Suspected garage burglar recognized by police

The Spokesman-Review

Spokane Valley Police officers arrested a Greenacres woman last Thursday after a resident reportedly spotted her breaking into a garage.

Police were called to the 17400 block of East Third Avenue when a woman spotted the suspected burglar at the garage where a previous tenant was storing items. The same garage had been broken into the week before, and several tools and other items were stolen, said police spokesman Cpl. Dave Reagan in a news release.

Police found the back door of the garage kicked in and recognized the woman inside, calling her by name, Reagan said. They arrested 33-year-old Alice E. Omlor and charged her with a felony count of second-degree burglary.

Police also recovered the tools stolen in the previous burglary and believe Omlor also was responsible for that crime, Reagan said.
