Chiefs own 15th choice in draft

The Spokesman-Review

The Spokane Chiefs will have the 15th overall selection in today’s Canadian Hockey League Import Draft.

The Western Hockey League Chiefs already have the maximum of two European players on their roster: defenseman Gustav Engman and forward Michael Grabner. However, Spokane will be able to add a third European player through the draft since Engman is an overage (20-year-old) player.

All 58 CHL teams will participate in the annual two-round draft for import players from outside North America.

The draft order is determined by reverse order of regular-season standings, with the three CHL leagues (the Ontario Hockey League, the Western Hockey League and the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League) alternating selections.
