Donovan Woods threw a touchdown pass and ran for another score to help Oklahoma State hold off Montana State 15-10 in Stillwater, Okla., in Mike Gundy’s first game as the Cowboys’ head coach.

The Cowboys struggled with the spread offense Gundy has implemented, but used a two-quarterback system to win their 10th straight home opener.

Woods started and played a majority of snaps, completing 10 of 20 passes for 117 yards and rushing for 61 yards on nine carries. Redshirt freshman Bobby Reid ran for 82 yards on six attempts.

Woods’ 23-yard lob to brother D’Juan Woods on OSU’s first possession of the second half erased the Bobcats’ 10-8 halftime lead.

Montana State threatened late in the fourth quarter, but Oklahoma State forced a punt when defensive tackle Darnell Smith tackled Justin Domineck for a 6-yard loss on third down on the Cowboys 39. The Bobcats never got the ball back.

Montana State’s Travis Lulay was 22 of 34 for 205 yards.

Montana 55, Fort Lewis 0

Lex Hilliard rushed for 110 yards and scored three touchdowns as the Grizzlies roughed up the Division II Skyhawks in Missoula.

The Grizzlies dominated the game, racking up 426 yards on offense. Fort Lewis gained just 125 total yards in the game and crossed into Montana territory only once, reaching the Grizzly 49-yard line late in the first half.

Jason Washington completed 10 of 17 passes for 179 yards and two touchdowns in his debut as Montana’s quarterback.

Weber State 61, Western State 0

Adrian Conway ran for 208 yards and three touchdowns and the Wildcats won in Ron McBride’s first game as coach, shutting out the visiting Division II Mountaineers of Gunnison, Colo.

A record 17,593 attended Saturday’s game, which was called with 8 minutes 16 seconds left in the fourth quarter because of lightning. The former record was 17,312, set in 1973.
