Body may be missing child’s

From Staff Reports The Spokesman-Review

A child’s body found on the shore of the Pend Oreille River on Sunday afternoon may be that of a missing 7-year-old boy.

A resident a mile south of the Riverview Bible Camp near Cusick, Wash., spotted the body on the shoreline and called the Pend Oreille County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies recovered the body, Sgt. Alan Botzheim said in a news release.

The body had not been positively identified late Sunday, Botzheim said, but it may be that of Jordan Mason, who has been missing since a June 30 boating accident.

The boy’s father, camp director Tim Mason, was towing Jordan and a 17-year-old girl on an inner tube when another boater, a young woman employed at the church camp, hit the tube, deputies said.

The collision tore the life jacket from the boy, and he disappeared underwater.

The girl was treated for cuts on her thigh, officials said.

Deputies and dive teams have spent days scouring the river.
