RiverHawks edge Kitsap

The Spokesman-Review

Jeremy Hefner pitched a complete game, scattering seven hits, striking out three and walking one as the Spokane RiverHawks edged the Kitsap BlueJackets 3-2 Monday night at Avista Stadium in West Coast Collegiate Baseball League play.

With the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh, Carl Uhl hit a two-out single to score Nick Froman for the game-winning run. Froman reached base on a single and advanced to second on a Greg Biagi single. Froman advanced to third on a fielding error and scored on the next play to give the RiverHawks their second straight victory.

Froman finished 2 for 4 and Shawn Gizynski was 2 for 4 and drove in one run for the RiverHawks (6-4).

Spokane is now 3-1 against the BlueJackets (4-6), who have lost four of their last five games.

Spokane plays Kitsap again tonight and Wednesday night at Avista Stadium at 6:30 p.m. The RiverHawks also host a two-game series with Bellingham starting Thursday.
