Police searching for rapist

Spokane police were searching Thursday night for a man who raped a young woman in the 700 block of North Monroe and took her purse shortly before 7:30 p.m.

The woman told police the man ran west on Gardner Avenue. Officers found her purse nearby, but the man remained at large late Thursday.

The suspect was described as black, in his 30s, 5 feet 6 inches with a medium build and a goatee. He was wearing a grey “hoody” sweatshirt.
