Meet your Neighbor

Carl Gidlund Correspondent

Name: Thomas Erny

Age: 44

Hometown: Alameda, Calif. We moved here from the Bay Area five years ago.

Occupation: I own and operate two UPS stores in Post Falls and Hayden.

Family: My wife, Robin, and I have three kids, Adrianne, 15, Sarahjane, 9, and Logan, 7.

Hobbies: Hiking and fishing with our kids and my wife.

What do you like about North Idaho? It’s beautiful here, and we love this slower pace of life. Before moving here we looked at Texas, Chicago and Kokomo, Ind.

What do you like or dislike about the current season? I love all four seasons here.

Favorite music: I like a wide variety, especially jazz and rock ‘n’ roll from the ‘80s.

Favorite TV show: “Survivor,” because it’s a family show.

Favorite movie: Any movie by Clint Eastwood.

Favorite spot in North Idaho? Why? The Thompson Pass area. It’s remote with some beautiful lakes, and few people go there. There are some great 45-minute hikes. I really appreciate the peace and tranquility of the area.
