Valley Fire – Commissioners discussed staffing at the Interstate Fair. Crews have been stationed at the fairgrounds during the event. Spokane International Airport donated blankets, “head beds” to go with backboards and bags of respiratory equipment to be put in the district’s mass casualty trailers. There was an update on the fire at West Valley High that caused $100,000 in damage. The cause is undetermined, but it is considered suspicious. A new fire truck is expected to be in service at Station 7 by the end of the month. Commissioners gave final approval of the annexation of several houses on Moose Lane. They approved a 5 percent pay raise for Administrative Director Debbie Cox. (Source: PIO Bill Clifford)

Edgecliff SCOPE – Elections were held to elect a new board and president. Volunteers plan to participate in Valleyfest. They discussed a Walk for Success scheduled for Sept. 30 at Edgecliff Park. There are plans to celebrate SCOPE’s 10th anniversary in October. (Source: Rick Scott)
