Thank you for condolences

I would like to thank my many Spokane Valley friends for their sympathy on the passing of my wife, Gloria.

As many of your readers may be aware, Gloria and I worked for over 20 years with Democrats and Republicans, rich and poor, young and old, environmentalists and developers, liberals and conservatives to successfully educate voters in the Valley they were subsidizing the rest of the county by approximately $15 million more than the value of the services they were getting. They should thus seek the self-determination of becoming a city.

State statutes prohibited us from setting salaries for mayor and City Council members. The salaries that the statutes mandated were always thought to be unreasonably low, requiring a commission to be formed, when appropriate, to establish conservative reasonable salaries. Do not be blindsided by the demagogues who oppose any appropriate salaries being approved (a new salary commission has been approved by the Spokane Valley City Council). Grow smartly.

Age and illness necessitated my move to Chattaroy so I have no motivation one way or another.
