Ben Gordon scored 23 points, and the Chicago Bulls moved a step closer to securing home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs by handing the New York Knicks their most lopsided loss of the season, 98-69 on Tuesday night in Chicago.

Second in the Eastern Conference, the Bulls lead fifth-place Cleveland by a half-game and Atlantic Division winner Toronto by 1 1/2. Chicago owns the tiebreaker over both teams.

Hawks 104, Celtics 96: At Atlanta, Tyronn Lue scored 26 points with 10 assists to help the Hawks beat Boston.

Nets 96, Wizards 92: At Washington, Jason Kidd’s first basket of the game, a tip-in of a missed layup, gave New Jersey the lead for good with 30 seconds to play in a victory over the Wizards, who lost their fifth straight yet managed to clinch a playoff spot.

76ers 90, Pacers 86: At Philadelphia, Andre Miller had 19 points and 11 assists, and the short-handed Sixers dealt Indiana a huge blow to its playoff hopes.

Bobcats 92, Heat 82: At Charlotte, N.C., Gerald Wallace had 24 points and 10 rebounds to lead Charlotte past Miami, the Bobcats’ second win in three days over the injury-plagued Heat.
