Two questioned after stabbings behind store

Two men were detained for questioning late Tuesday after two people were stabbed near a north Spokane shopping center, police said.

The stabbings occurred shortly after 10 p.m. behind the Fred Meyer store on Francis Avenue.

One of the victims was initially said to have potentially life-threatening injuries, while the other suffered less serious wounds.

Late Tuesday, Spokane police said both victims were expected to live.

The names of the victims were unavailable. Police said the stabbings occurred after words were exchanged.
