Indians lose series

The Spokesman-Review

YAKIMA – The Yakima Bears scored three first-inning runs en route to taking the rubber game of their three-game Northwest League set with the Spokane Indians 5-2 Wednesday night.

Spokane (19-23), still one game back of first-place Boise in the East, opens a five-game series Friday against Salem-Keizer at Avista Stadium.

Indians starter Jacob Brigham was hurt by poor fielding, including some of his own, giving up five runs in his five innings, but just one earned.

Two errors led to the Bears’ three-run first and another unearned run scored in the third after Brigham was charged with an error on a pickoff attempt. Yakima went up 5-0 in the fourth on Aaron Hanke’s solo homer.

The Indians’ two runs came with two out in the eighth, assisted by two Bears errors. The Indians left the bases loaded.
