WNBA: Stars spurn Storm

Becky Hammon scored 21 points and reserve forward Erin Buescher had 18 to lead the San Antonio Silver Stars to an 82-71 victory over the Seattle Storm on Friday night in San Antonio.

The Storm scored 12 points in the second quarter.

Sky 82, Lynx 77: At Minneapolis, Candice Dupree matched her career high with 25 points and Chicago beat Minnesota for their first win of the year.

The Lynx signed 6-foot-3 forward/center Tiffany Stansbury before the game.

Mercury 111, Comets 85: At Phoenix, Diana Taurasi scored 37 points, including 10 during a key 3-minute stretch of the third quarter to lead the Mercury over Houston.

Taurasi was 11 of 18 from the field, making six 3-pointers.
