In brief: Habitat auction planned at casino
Habitat for Humanity-Spokane will hold its 12th Annual Raise the Roof Auction to raise funds for another Habitat Home.
The auction will be held Oct. 19 at Northern Quest Casino Pavilion, 100 N. Hayford Road, Airway Heights.
There will be a silent auction at 5 p.m., dinner will be served at 7 p.m. and a live auction will follow dinner. Tickets are $60 and are available by calling the Habitat office at 534-2552.

Rec league seeks hoops players
The Spokane County Parks and Recreation Men’s and Women’s Basketball League is looking for players.
The eight-game season begins Nov. 26 and ends with a double-elimination tournament. Team registration fees $320 and player fees are $320 for 8 players. Additional players are $40 each. Dodgeball tourney scheduled
The Spokane County Parks and Recreation Department is holding its Haunting Halloween Hit & Run Dodgeball Tournament on Oct. 26 beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Northside and Valley locations.
Registration deadline is Oct. 17. The cost is $60 per team, which must coed adult teams. The tournament will award prizes for best individual costume and best team costume.

McDonald House helpers wanted
The Ronald McDonald House of Spokane, 1015 W. Fifth Ave., is looking for volunteers. Volunteers can expect to answer telephones, do light housekeeping and assist staff and guests. The organization hopes to find volunteers willing to commit eight or more hours a month for a minimum of six months.
All volunteers must be at least 18 years old, pass a State Patrol background check and be responsible and dependable.
