Spokane eliminitated from playoff race

BOISE – The Boise Hawks scored single runs in five different innings Sunday, defeating the Spokane Indians 5-4 and eliminating Spokane from the Northwest League East Division playoff race.

The Indians had the tying run on third with no one out in the ninth inning but failed to score when each of the next three batters struck out.

Mitch Moreland drove in two runs and Renny Osuna brought home one in the Indians’ three-run fourth inning. Tim Smith had an RBI-double in the seventh.

Matt Lawson had two hits for the Indians, who begin a three-game homestand today against the Yakima Bears to close out the season.

Boise will play a three-game series against the Tri-City Dust Devils that will determine the East Division champion.

Salem-Keizer has won the West Division.
