Nationals 7, Braves 4: At Atlanta, Ryan Church hit a three-run homer to give Washington the lead and the Nationals beat the Braves. The Braves led 3-1 through five innings before Church hit the go-ahead homer off Lance Cormier in the sixth. Ryan Zimmerman also went deep for Washington.

Mets 4, Astros 1: At New York, Pedro Martinez tossed five shutout innings in his first start at home this season, leading the Mets past Houston for a three-game sweep.

Phillies 8, Marlins 5: At Philadelphia, Pat Burrell homered and drove in three runs to lead the Phillies to a win over Florida.

Pirates 10, Cubs 5: At Pittsburgh, Freddy Sanchez’s bases-loaded triple highlighted the Pirates’ six-run second inning, allowing Pittsburgh to knock Chicago out of first place in the Central Division.

Rockies 4, Padres 2: At Denver, Garrett Atkins hit a two-run homer and Todd Helton had two of Colorado’s four hits to help the Rockies beat San Diego.

Giants 4, Dodgers 2: At San Francisco, pinch-hitter Ray Durham hit a go-ahead, three-run homer in the eighth inning and Los Angeles missed another chance to gain ground in the playoff race.

Diamondbacks 6, Cardinals 5: At Phoenix, Jose Valverde retired pinch-hitter Yadier Molina with the bases loaded for the final out, and Arizona held off St. Louis for its fifth straight victory.
