I strongly disagree with David Parks’ letter (“Column not a fun read,” March 16).” He calls John Blanchette “Mr. Know-It-All” and I thought I had that moniker all wrapped up.

I do believe Blanchette is the most fair and knowledgeable sports mind in the local media and is usually spot-on in his analysis of players and the games they play. He’s truthful, not bullying.

Although Parks tries to portray Josh Heytvelt as an innocent kid in his letter, Josh is nonetheless receiving a man-sized full-ride scholarship worth thousands of dollars and therefore has a responsibility to focus his energies on school and basketball.

I have often complained local writers don’t necessarily cover both sides of a story. Now I know why. They don’t dare say anything against “sacred cows” as they run the risk of being attacked by arm-chair quarterbacks who know little about high-level competition.
