Chewelah man killed in crash

A 38-year-old Chewelah man died and a second man was injured when the pickup they were riding in went off Sand Canyon Road and struck a tree Saturday night.

Terry A. Roach died at the scene of the accident, less than two miles northwest of Chewelah.

Roach was wearing a seat belt, state troopers said.

The driver, Timothy A. Geist, 41, also of Chewelah, was injured and taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chewelah following the accident at 10:30 p.m. Saturday.
