Two second-half goals turn back Eagles

Washington State scored two second-half goals to turn back Eastern Washington 3-1 in a non-conference women’s soccer game in Pullman Friday.

Nursing a 1-0 lead at halftime, junior Carly Dobratz connected for the Cougars (6-2-3) in the 50th minute.

About 12 minutes later, Lauryn Koelzer scored her fifth goal for the Eagles (2-6-2), one short of the school single-season record.

Freshman Tiara Pittman iced the game at 69:53.

•Sophomore keeper Lauren Ames had a season-high seven saves to record her fourth shut-out of the season as Gonzaga (5-6-1) played a scoreless tie at Idaho State (2-7-3) in Pocatello.

•Adrienne Schneider scored in the 103rd minute as Utah Valley State defeated visiting Idaho (1-9-1) in double overtime at Orem, Utah. Vandals keeper Liz Boyden had a career-high nine saves and sophomore Jenn Hull had her eighth career goal in the 83rd minute.

•South Division leader Clackamas (7-4-1) scored 3 minutes into the game and held on to defeat visiting CC Spokane (2-6-1) 1-0 in a NWAACC game at Oregon City, Ore.

Men’s soccer

San Francisco (2-5-1, 1-0-0) made a goal 30 minutes into the game stand up for a 1-0 win over Gonzaga (4-4-1, 1-1) in a West Coast Conference game.

•Jake Krueger and Travis Green scored and Randy Breiland posted a shutout as CCS (4-3-1) won 2-0 in a conference game at winless South Puget Sound in Olympia.

College volleyball

Eighth-ranked Stanford (12-2, 3-0) rolled to a 25-14, 25-15, 25-19 Pac-10 sweep at Washington State (7-7, 0-3). Jackie Albright had 10 kills for the Cougs and Breann Nesselhuf had 25 assists and nine digs.

•Whitworth put an end to ninth-ranked Puget Sound’s (9-4, 4-1) string of four straight Northwest Conference sweeps in a 25-18, 13-25, 25-19, 25-16 victory in Spokane. Bethan Castilleja had 23 digs for the Pirates, with Kaimi Rocha getting 14 kills.

•Blue Mountain (9-13, 4-2) defeated visiting CC Spokane (16-15, 2-4) 25-19, 25-16, 25-23 in a NWAACC match at Pendleton, Ore. Allison Robels had 19 digs for BMCC and Briana Claassen had 18 assists and eight blocks.

•Eighth-ranked California swept ninth-ranked Washington on the road. The Bears (13-1, 3-0) edged the Huskies (11-2, 2-1) 28-26, 25-22, 25-23.

Cross country

Senior Paul Limpf finished sixth out of 202 runners and Eastern Washington placed 17th in the “Blue Division” of the 25-team Notre Dame Invitational. Limpf was just 10 seconds behind the winner, finishing the 8-mile course in 23:42. Alex Smyth finished 19th in 24:08 for the Eagles.

GSL girls soccer

Keely Buter and Kristi Wirtz scored 10 minutes apart early in the game to lift Shadle Park (3-5, 3-2) to a 2-1 win over visiting University (6-4, 3-2). … Lauren Hamilton scored two goals as North Central (3-6, 1-5) won 6-0 at Rogers (0-5, 0-5). … At Hart Field, Michelle Bender scored on a cross from Alix Silha in the 23rd minute as host Lewis and Clark (9-1, 4-0) beat Central Valley (3-4, 1-3) 1-0. … Ashle Berto had two assists, a give-and-go with Alli Floyd in the first half and a throw-in to Delaney Zalud in the second, as Mt. Spokane (4-2, 2-2) topped visiting East Valley (3-5, 1-4) 2-0. … The keepers, Sarah Manix of Gonzaga Prep (7-1, 3-1) and Megan Poppe of Ferris (4-2, 3-1), had strong games but visiting G-Prep pulled out a 1-0 win when Megan Lindsay converted a pass from Farin Nikdel in the 35th minute.

GSL volleyball

Emil Hama had four aces and Sara Sitilia 12 digs as Gonzaga Prep (2-2) beat visiting Rogers (0-4) 25-9, 25-7, 25-14. … LeAnna Lloyd had 13 kills and Kelly Bates had three big kills late in the fifth game as Mt. Spokane (3-2) outlasted visiting University (3-2).

Junior hockey

AJ King’s shootout goal lifted the Spokane Braves to a 3-2 road win in a KIJHL game at Golden, British Columbia. The first-place Braves are 7-2-0. The Rockets are 4-3-2.
