Decided Davidson guard Stephen Curry will announce today if he’ll return for his senior season or enter the NBA draft. The school has called a late-morning news conference at its athletic complex. Curry and his father, former NBA player Dell Curry, will attend along with Davidson coach Bob McKillop. The 6-foot-3 Curry was the nation’s top scorer last season, averaging 28.6 points a game.

•Top forwards Jonathan Tavernari of Brigham Young University and Tyler Smith of Tennessee announced they will declare for the draft but not hire agents. Tavernari averaged 15.7 points last season. Smith has averaged 15.4 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.4 assists in his two seasons at Tennessee and hasn’t missed a game.

Sentenced A judge in Bellefonte, Pa., sentenced Penn State’s Navorro Bowman to an extra 12 months of probation and to undergo drug testing and counseling after the linebacker admitted smoking marijuana. Bowman, the Nittany Lions’ leading tackler last season, was already on probation after pleading guilty in May 2008 to disorderly conduct in connection with a campus fight the previous fall.

Selected Anaheim’s Bobby Ryan, Columbus’ Steve Mason and Chicago’s Kris Versteeg have been selected finalists for the Calder Trophy, the NHL award given to the rookie of the year. The trophy will be awarded June 18 in Las Vegas.

Approved The University of North Dakota’s use of the Fighting Sioux nickname and Indian head logo has been approved by one of the two tribes that must endorse it under a deal the school reached with the NCAA. The Spirit Lake Sioux tribe voted 764-371 in favor of the nickname and logo.
