Filed Denver Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony is suing his former business manager, alleging he misappropriated more than $2 million of the NBA star’s assets. The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in Sacramento, Calif., on Monday, alleges that Anthony’s former business manager, Larry W. Harmon, and employees of Larry Harmon & Associates P.A. breached their fiduciary duties by transferring $1.75 million of Anthony’s money without his knowledge or consent to a company formed by Harmon, most of it in 2008. Another $265,500 was discovered to have been invested in third parties without Anthony’s knowledge or consent between 2005 and 2008, according to the lawsuit, which seeks recovery of the approximately $2 million, plus punitive damages.

Arrested The estranged stepmother of Jeremy Mayfield was accused of trespassing on the suspended NASCAR driver’s property in Charlotte, N.C. A criminal complaint filed in North Carolina District Court shows Lisa Mayfield was accused of four misdemeanor counts of simple assault and one misdemeanor count of second-degree trespassing for an incident that allegedly occurred Saturday night at the driver’s Catawba County home.

Added The New York Rangers have signed free agent Vinny Prospal, reuniting the former Tampa Bay Lightning forward with coach John Tortorella. General manager Glen Sather says the Rangers can use the 6-foot-2, 198-pound Czech star on the wing or at center.

Signed The Phoenix Suns have signed second-round pick Taylor Griffin to a contract. Griffin, the older brother of first overall pick Blake Griffin, averaged 9.6 points and 5.8 rebounds as a senior at Oklahoma. Terms were not disclosed.

Died The first African-American official in NFL history, Burl Toler, who went on to work one Super Bowl in a distinguished career, has died. He was 81. The University of San Francisco says Toler died Sunday at a hospital in Castro Valley, Calif.
