Mr. Mayor, let the voters decide

Mayor Munson, the Valley was a part of the county far longer than it has been a city. There is no need for name-calling just because citizens don’t share the same view as the mayor.

Many voting issues are petitioned before officially being put on the ballot. Since incorporation only needed 5,000 signatures, voters were constantly turning this issue down. By the final election, many people were tired of voting on the same old issue and decided not to vote, thinking it would not pass. Out of 81,000 residents, only 19,880 voted. The Valley became a city with only one-eighth (10,272) of the residents voting yes.

Mayor Munson, if you think the citizens love the city so much, and the city council has the power to put this issue on the ballot without the signatures, I challenge you to do so! Let’s heal the running sore. Give the voters a chance to decide this for themselves.
