Ryan Nicholas scored 19 points, Parker Kelly added 15 and Gonzaga Prep turned a tie at halftime into a 58-43 win against Coeur d’Alene (0-1) in its non-league season opener Tuesday in Coeur d’Alene.

In other non-league action, Mark Smyly scored 18 points, Chris Wheelock added 12 and Lake City (2-0) used a 35-16 rebounding edge to outlast Mt. Spokane (0-1) 55-43 at Mt. Spokane. … After a 10-point fourth-quarter lead shrunk to one, Rogers (1-0) answered with a 7-0 run to hold off Cheney (0-1) 63-50 in Cheney. Rogers’ Deavon Daniels scored 14, while Deangelo Jones scored 17 points to go with 11 rebounds for the Blackhawks. … Taylor Vold scored eight of his 14 points in the first quarter and Freeman held off a comeback by Kellogg (0-1) to win 47-45 in Kellogg. The Scotties led by 10 after the opening frame, but were outscored in the next three quarters. … Timberlake (1-0) used a 19-9 scoring run in the third quarter to pull away from Kootenai (0-1) for a 57-47 victory in Harrison, Idaho. Hayden Kraack led all scorers with 17 for Kootenai. … Nathan Richards hit a 3-pointer to beat the buzzer and lift Rosalia (1-0) to a 61-58 victory over Wellpinit (0-1) in Rosalia.
