LAS VEGAS – Ryan Gray of Cheney continued his climb up the world standings in bareback riding after notching a second-place finish in Tuesday’s sixth round at the National Finals Rodeo.

Gray finished with 86.5 points and earned $13,546. He sits in fourth place in the world standings with $152,136. Tuesday’s winner Bobby Mote of Culver, Ore., scored 87.5 and is second overall at $215, 261. Clint Cannon leads the world standings with $235,900. Gray’s next target is third-place Justin McDaniel with $161,696.

Tyson Durfey of Colbert, Wash., finished third in tie-down roping with a time of 7.6 seconds and earned $10,228. Durfey is in seventh place in the world standings with earnings of $101,714. He is less than $2,000 behind sixth-place roper Scott Kormos.

Zach Oakes of Elk, Wash., failed to score in bull riding – but so did every other competitor except Corey Navarre of Weatherford, Okla. Oakes has earned $66,332 and sits in 15th place in the world standings.

Navarre prevented his 14 fellow bull riding competitors from being shut out for the last two rounds when he posted a successful ride. Navarre, of Weatherford, Okla., earned $17,139 after his score of 70.5 on Boom Town.

On Monday, the 15 competitors were unable to cover on their bulls during round five, which is the first time this happened at the NFR since the sixth round of 1997.
