In response to Dec. 13 letters, “Zags deserved to lose” and “Few should resign,” get real.

A Zags player made a huge emotional mistake after getting elbowed for 16 minutes. It cost the team the game. He knows it, his team knows it and coach Mark Few knows it. It was one play, not a history of aggressive actions.

“Assaulted a defenseless player?” Seven feet tall, pushing and elbowing up to that point. I got worse treatment on the playgrounds of public schools. “Suspended for a year?” “Cut from the team?” We give convicted felons three strikes in this state. Maybe we should deport him back to Germany and put him on the terror watch list. Let’s try and ruin this kid’s life for one mistake. I don’t condone his actions, but these suggestions are way overboard.

As far as Coach Few: “Ushered in an era of hooliganism?” “Gone over to the dark side?” “Should resign” One play? Really? Mark and Marci Few have raised more than $4 million dollars for cancer research. He is a fine coach and mentor to young men. If you want to jump ship, go ahead. Don’t let one play taint an entire team and program. I’ll take the Zags and Coach Few over any program in the country.
