Spokane County man dies in car wreck

A 19-year-old Spokane County man died Sunday when he was thrown from his vehicle when it went off West Monroe Road in northern Spokane County. Sammy O. Alurfali, of the Fairwood area, was not wearing a seat belt in the crash just after midnight, Spokane sheriff’s officials said today. An autopsy showed that he died from a head injury. He was traveling east in a 2007 Suzuki Forenza and crossed into the westbound lane and back into the eastbound lane before losing control on a curve. Investigators estimated the car was traveling 70 mph where the speed limit is 45.
