Oh, to be No. 1 >>

Roger Federer wants to return to No. 1 in 2009.

Federer will join top-ranked Rafael Nadal in the Qatar Open this week, the ATP Tour season-opener for both players. “One of my goals this year is to regain the top ranking,” said Federer, who needs one Grand Slam title to equal Pete Sampras’ career record of 14. The Swiss star, who won the Qatar Open in 2005 and 2006, will open against Potito Starace and could meet Andy Murray in the semifinals. Murray is one of the few players with a winning record (4-2) against Federer.
