WASHINGTON STATE COUGARS

RECORD: 9-6 overall, 1-2 Pac-10

COMING UP: Today at Oregon State, 6 p.m., FSN; Saturday at Oregon, 11 a.m., FSN

OUTLOOK: The Cougars head on their first Pac-10 road trip where they’ll face the conference’s cellar dweller. For the first time in a long time that isn’t Oregon State. The Beavers have already won one more conference game then they did all last season, upsetting Southern California two weeks ago at home. Since Calvin Haynes (14.9 points per game) became academically eligible, OSU has played better. Down the road in Eugene, the young Ducks have struggled, losing their first four conference games. Ernie Kent ’s team uses five freshmen in key roles, and they’ve struggled with consistency.
