Tekoa youth killed in accident

Two others injured in rollover in southern Kootenai County

The Spokesman-Review
A Tekoa teen was killed and a Worley youth is in critical condition after they were thrown from a vehicle that went off the road and rolled several times early Tuesday in southern Kootenai County. Brandon W. Hay, 17, died at Kootenai Medical Center, the Idaho State Police reported. The driver, Travis W. Sines, 18, of Worley, is in critical condition. Another passenger, Jonathan R. Hill, 18, of Tekoa, is in fair condition. Both are at the hospital. Sines was driving west in a 1999 Toyota 4-Runner about 1:22 a.m. on Lovell Valley Road when the vehicle drifted off the right shoulder on a left hand curve, the ISP said. He lost control and the vehicle rolled several times, ejecting Sines and Hay. The vehicle landed upside down in the ditch and caught fire. Witnesses helped Hill get out of the vehicle. Sines and Hay were taken via Med Star to Kootenai Medical Center where Hay later died. Hill was transported there by ambulance. The state patrol does not know whether they were wearing seatbelts.
