Sounders salvage tie

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. – Nate Jaqua scored in the 76th minute as the Seattle Sounders forged a 2-2 tie with the Colorado Rapids on Saturday night.

Jaqua’s second goal of the season from in close barely got past the reach of Colorado goalkeeper Matt Pickens.

Colorado’s Conor Casey had given the Rapids a 2-1 lead in the 47th minute.

Fredy Montero opened the scoring in the 17th minute for Seattle (4-2-4), which had played in three consecutive 1-all draws and dropped to 1-0-4 in its last five matches.

Colin Clark scored in the 25th minute for Colorado (3-2-4), which moved to 1-0-3 in its last four overall and 2-0-2 at home this season.

Sounders goalkeeper Kasey Keller brought a league-leading 0.41 goals-against average into the game.

Seattle was without Freddie Ljungberg for a second straight match because of a migraine headache, but the Sounders got defender James Riley back after serving a one-game suspension for a red-card violation.

The Sounders host a return meeting of the teams Tuesday.
