Health district organizes more swine flu vaccine clinics

The Spokesman-Review
A influx of swine flu vaccines has prompted local health officials to offer a series of appointment-only clinics in early December. The Spokane Regional Health District has about 2,200 doses of vaccine – much of it in shot form that is acceptable for pregnant women, children with asthma, and others with underlying health conditions The 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. clinics are Dec. 1 at Spokane Valley Partners; Dec. 2 at West Central Community Center; Dec. 8 at East Central Community Center; and Dec. 10 at Northeast Community Center. Those who want the vaccine must fall within the guidelines established by the Centers for Disease Control and call 324-1648 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and Tuesday to schedule an appointment. Those guidelines include pregnant women, people who live with or care for infants younger than six months, health care workers, people ages 6 months to 24 years old, and people 25 to 64 with chronic health conditions. People falling outside those guidelines will have to wait until vaccine supplies are adequate to ensure those most at-risk can receive the shots or nasal mist.
