Whitworth at Hardin-Simmons

KICKOFF: Abilene, Texas

Records: Both 0-0

Radio: 1230-AM

Overview: The Pirates take the longest football road trip in school history, a 1,775-mile venture to Abilene, Texas, to face the fifth-ranked Cowboys. The Cowboys’ prolific offense is directed by senior quarterback Justin Feaster, who passed for 3,023 yards and 31 touchdowns last season. He also had a team-high eight rushing touchdowns. Hardin-Simmons lost twice in 2008 by a combined five points to Mary Hardin-Baylor, the latter in the D-III playoffs. Whitworth returns eight starters on offense and eight on defense. The Pirates figure to rely on running back Adam Anderson against an HSU defense that yielded nearly 200 yards per game last season.
