The storm that moved through the Spokane-area late Sunday knocked over trees and started pole fires, leaving more than 3,100 Avista customers without power. By 4 a.m. Monday most of the Spokane customers were back on line, but more than 900 households north of Colville and approximately 270 southeast of Chewelah remained without power. Avista spokesperson Sandra Hoye said the high winds were to blame for the havoc, and by 2 p.m. less then five Spokane customers remained without power. “We still have 429 north of Colville and 178 south of Chewelah that are without power,” said Hoye. “Our crews are out there working on getting everybody back online.” Residents are reminded to stay away form downed power lines and trees that lean on lines or poles.
