Lake Pend Oreille levels to increase

The Spokesman-Review
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will begin refilling Lake Pend Oreille to summer levels beginning today. The lake’s current elevation is 2,051.8 feet above sea level at the Hope Gage. After a gradual rise, the lake should hit a summer level of 2,062.25 by late June. Water levels are controlled by Albeni Falls Dam, which the corps operates. Winter lake levels are adjusted to provide spawning kokanee access to shoreline gravels. The dam also generates electricity and helps mitigate the risk of flooding.
