In brief: Golf tourney benefits Pop Warner programs

LIBERTY LAKE – The first Spokane Valley Pop Warner Association Golf Tournament will be held June 11 at MeadowWood Golf Course, to benefit its youth football and cheerleading programs.

The tournament will begin with check-in at noon and a shotgun start at 1 p.m.

Golfers can win a signed NFL football, rounds of golf and lessons with a golf pro, WSU, GU and UW apparel, and more. The event will also include a barbecue dinner.

Cost is $300 for a four-player team or $75 per person. Driving range and dinner are included in the tournament cost.

CVHS graduates can plan all-class reunion

SPOKANE VALLEY – Central Valley High School graduates interested in planning an all-CVHS class reunion will meet on Tuesday at the Mirabeau Park Hotel Lounge, 100 N. Sullivan Road, at 7 p.m.

The CV alumni committee will choose a date and place for the reunion.

Retirement group plans Earth Day event

SPOKANE VALLEY – Orchard Crest Retirement Community, 222 S. Evergreen Road, will host an open house next Thursday, to celebrate Earth Day.

The event will be from 1 to 3 p.m. and will feature Phyllis Stevens, gardening expert from KXLY radio.

Other organizations attending include Vera Power and Light, SNAP, Spokane Utility Water Resources, Spokane Regional Solid Waste System, Gonzaga Environmental Organization and the Spokane County Conservation District.

The Earth Day celebration is open to the public.

New Red Hat Society chapter forming

SPOKANE VALLEY – The Red Hat Society has formed a new chapter in Spokane Valley.

The Valley Hatties will have their “birthday” celebration April 25 at Conley’s Place, 12622 E. Sprague Ave., from 1 to 3 p.m. The group is a social club for women.

The event is also Red Hat Society Day, the 12th birthday of the group.
