Seattle Storm sign Bowman

College basketball: Heather Bowman, Gonzaga’s and the West Coast Conference’s all-team leading scorer, has a chance to continue her career close to home.

The Lewis and Clark graduate has signed a free agent contract with the Seattle Storm.

She will join Seattle’s second-round pick, Tanisha Smith of Texas A&M, at camp next week. Gonzaga knocked off the Aggies in the second round of the recent NCAA tournament to reach the Sweet 16 for the first time in school history.

The first preseason game for the Storm is May 2 and the regular season opens May 16.

Bowman’s Gonzaga teammate, Vivian Frieson, heads to Tulsa for camp. Frieson, the second-round pick of the Shock, has a preseason game against Seattle in Tulsa on May 9 before opening the season May 15.
