North Side crash leaves five hurt

A collision shortly before 11 p.m. Friday at North Nevada Street and East Sharpsburg Avenue sent five people to hospitals.

Witnesses told Spokane police they saw a northbound Honda Civic with three people traveling at a “high rate of speed” on Nevada Street. A Lincoln Navigator carrying at least two people turned from Sharpsburg onto Nevada, colliding with the Civic, police said.

Three people from the Honda sustained serious injuries, and two from the Navigator sustained minor injuries, police said. The Spokane Fire Department treated the injured at the scene before they were taken to two hospitals. Police have not released their names, and conditions were not available Saturday.

The cause of the collision is under investigation.
