The prom is back on track at Mt. Spokane High School. Earlier this year, the senior class discovered it had lost a $2,150 deposit when The Sapphire Room unexpectedly went out of business.

Sapphire Room owner LeeAnn Saccomanno did not notify the school. She also didn’t come through on repeated promises that she’d refund the students their deposit, so the seniors had no choice but to start over on fundraising.

“We had a fundraiser at El Sombrero and raised about $1,400,” said Larae Stotts, 17, and a senior at Mt. Spokane. “We have also been selling T-shirts and doing other fundraisers.”

Stotts said the students decided to go with the Glover Mansion as the site for the prom on May 8.

“We are just glad we are back on track,” said Stotts, adding that the class also received anonymous cash donations and some in-kind offers that they are waiting to see if they need.

“We are keeping some offers as kind of a back up,” said Stotts, “but we are so grateful for all the help we received.”
